Chaps, does anyone have any tips on which underwear is best for running i.e. briefs, boxers, etc and any particular types. I normally wear running shorts with the built-in liners, but feel that these don't offer enough support to the ol plums!

Underwear (for men!)
Welcome to the forum.
I normally ran in standard running shorts which provide good ventilation, but in cold weather I used compression shorts, which are much more supportive and may suit you, though personally I would not want to wear them in warm weather.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5....
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
Have a look at Runderwear
I usually run in shorts without a problem, you could try some microfibre briefs as these are supportive, very light weight and wick the sweat away. Sorry if that’s too much detail😀
Jockey briefs to avoid chafing on the inner thighs.
Waistband elastic mustn’t be loose - to avoid dying pants heading south whilst running.
My son wears Step One pants and lined shorts. His Dad wears ordinary boxers and lined shorts. The Step One pants have a 'glide panel ' on the inner thigh. Obviously, being a woman I cant comment on the men's Step One pants, but I did try the ladies' version. They were ok but I much prefer Runderwear. Happy shopping. 😊
Underwear when running hmm 🤔 .... Just shorts for me 😁
A strong recommendation from me for these:

I've been using them in the summer months for two years now, and they're ideal. No undies needed.
I do have some Kiprun Skincare boxers (now discontinued) from Decathlon which hold everything "discreetly" for when I'm wearing running tights in winter.
By coincidence Step One (bamboo non-chafing underpants) are currently advertising a hefty sale.
As I run in a remote rural area I prefer not to wear clothes when running and have not had any problem. I have found that the warmer weather makes running as a naturist much more pleasant.
