Long Covid - Recovery tips on how to get back running.

Hi, I'm getting on Ha ha. Have been running/walking as part of my C25K routine until early March 2022, so that's just over two years. I contacted Covid somewhere along the line and am still suffering the after effects, the main one being fatigue and still the remnants of a serious chest infection. Have some anxiety issues too.

Lots of info. about recovery plans/activities that mostly hinge around "taking your time" so as to not over exert yourself.

Is there any one here with any similar experiences and might want to share their route back to running again.

C25K is so good for my mental and physical health and I'm concerned that if I don't get going soon I may never be able to restart.

I recon I caught Covid around Xmas time 2021 but long Covid symptoms didn't appear until early March. So I'm about 13/14 weeks into it now.

Thanks for being there

Oh so sorry to hear that. I don’t have much advice other than the one you already mentioned. Slow and steady.

But one thing that might help both your running and chest is to do some regular yoga. There is something about yoga that helps us heal through breathing, and moving your body in specific positions.

We do have all YWA 30 day journeys listed over at our Strength and Flex forum at healthunlocked.com/strength... and the one called BREATH was a 30 day journey focusing on just that. Breathing.

So if you’ve not come across those, they might be really rewarding to try out whilst your recovering.

Hope you find a great way forward and also sending you lots of patience with your situation. And then, slow and steady wins the day!

Sorry to hear that. Probably best to follow your GPs instructions for long Covid symptoms and as CBDB said, try Yoga. If you are a bit hesitant to straightaway dive into Yoga, you can start with just some breathing exercises. It can help with anxiety too.All the best for getting back to running.
