Third time lucky I hope, just completed W9R3 again.

I must be getting old, I thought this was my second attempt at finishing the C25K but just checking back on my posts to see when I completed it the first time I saw my post about completing it for a second time last year. I had forgotten I had actually finished it then.

I really have lost count of how many times I have started it and got a few weeks in then stopped. I would not say I had given up, just things happen and running did not win in the list of priorities. By the time I was ready to run again I had missed a few weeks so started again, not always at week 1, but very near the start.

The two main differences this time around are that I have done it all on the treadmill, and I have run Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays after work. Before I ran every other day.

I think both have helped. I couldn't make the weather as an excuse not to run, and having fixed days helped create a routine. I have missed a couple of days here and there but picked it up again on the next scheduled day. When I ran alternate days, I didnt have a fixed day that I would start again so missed, two, three, four or more days and then that was it.

The challenge now is keeping it going. I have a couple of goals, the first being a 3k fun run in aid of the RNLI in June. The second is to start doing Park Runs.

The latter will interfere with my dog walking routine at weekends so may not be as easy to achieve. Two fury friends may also have different ideas about how I should spend early Saturday mornings.

I already have an issue this Friday but I should be OK for my first post C25K run on Monday.

Ok, so this time I did not find week 1 as difficult as I did the first time around, but it still amazes me that in just 9 weeks I can go from just managing to do a minute, to running 30 minutes. It only seemed a couple of weeks ago that running for 5 minutes was a struggle, and now I look at the clock with 5 minutes to go and think thats nothing at all left.

Good post from you Chris--B, I am happy that you can run for 30 minutes non stop and congratulations on completing C25K again, 5 minutes WAS a struggle, so was 20 minutes of W5R3, I use that 20 minute run, around 3K as what we call a "maintenance run" to keep the legs in running order, you do that as well to make sure you won't need to repeat C25K again after a break from running. 😊 🏃🏾

Welcome back again :) Here you are and you are ready to move forward:) Maybe just get a few different runs in as you move forwards.

Sometimes for some of us the key to keeping up running, ( as long as we still enjoy and want to), is to mix things up... Things like the 3K fun run...( I am doing the RNLI Mayday Mile) and in your week, a short run ( about 3K), a 30 minute run and then think about a relaxed, longer see where you get to run as time moves on. They are so good. relaxed and with no pressure of time or distance.

No Badge this time... but keep posting and when Catch-Up Corner reopens on June 1st, please pop in and let us know how it is going!

Well done you!

Congratulations. Third time is the charm, as they say. I think the routine definitely helps. I find my weeks are much more chaotic if I’m moving runs around on different days. Keep going with your runs - you’ve got this.
