I must be getting old, I thought this was my second attempt at finishing the C25K but just checking back on my posts to see when I completed it the first time I saw my post about completing it for a second time last year. I had forgotten I had actually finished it then.
I really have lost count of how many times I have started it and got a few weeks in then stopped. I would not say I had given up, just things happen and running did not win in the list of priorities. By the time I was ready to run again I had missed a few weeks so started again, not always at week 1, but very near the start.
The two main differences this time around are that I have done it all on the treadmill, and I have run Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays after work. Before I ran every other day.
I think both have helped. I couldn't make the weather as an excuse not to run, and having fixed days helped create a routine. I have missed a couple of days here and there but picked it up again on the next scheduled day. When I ran alternate days, I didnt have a fixed day that I would start again so missed, two, three, four or more days and then that was it.
The challenge now is keeping it going. I have a couple of goals, the first being a 3k fun run in aid of the RNLI in June. The second is to start doing Park Runs.
The latter will interfere with my dog walking routine at weekends so may not be as easy to achieve. Two fury friends may also have different ideas about how I should spend early Saturday mornings.
I already have an issue this Friday but I should be OK for my first post C25K run on Monday.
Ok, so this time I did not find week 1 as difficult as I did the first time around, but it still amazes me that in just 9 weeks I can go from just managing to do a minute, to running 30 minutes. It only seemed a couple of weeks ago that running for 5 minutes was a struggle, and now I look at the clock with 5 minutes to go and think thats nothing at all left.
