W8r2 and I'm still going even if I didn't manage to run as far in distance as w8r2. I was running early and tired. I get frustrated with myself for not improving with each run! I definitely need some new trainers but waiting until I've completed c25k. I am desperately aiming for the 4k mark. ..

Well done with your progress 👍

"I am desperately aiming for the 4k mark"

Why ?

It's completely irrelevant, and infact you will get better development running at a conversational pace .

Forget the distance, time is the important part , just keep doing what you're doing 😁👍

Thank you all very new to me . I think I just want to see progress in numbers ?👍

Hi 80svibe , I never measured anything during C25K, as I knew I'd end up beating myself up for not doing more, better, whatever. But if you think about it, if every run were faster and/or further than the previous one, we'd all be sporting superstars, smashing records every time we went out.

If you do want to think about numbers, then compare the time you could run for in the early weeks to what you can do now. 😀

Thank you . It makes sense I will try and just enjoy my next run .😀

Almost 21 months after I completed C25K I now make a point of not measuring all my runs.

There were too many times when I'd get home feeling happy and positive about my run, then look at data and feel disappointed. So I decided some runs would be Garmin-and-Strava-free.

I'm not very bothered about knowing my pace or how long I've run for, but was quite shocked at how difficult I found it initially to let go of the If it's not on Strava it didn't happen thinking.

I get that . The data proves what you are doing ... I should only need to run . I will definitely take that on board when I graduate .

Data can be super-useful to help your running, don't get me wrong. I'm full of admiration for those who can use it intelligently, because it's just not my thing.

What Garmin can't know is that I slowed down to take in the views, or exchange a few words with a neighbour. Or that I went off the beaten track - literally - and then came to a complete halt while I worked out how to get across a small stream.

You choose how you want to run, and your definition of progress. Happy running!

Well done but don't expect to get further and faster on every run.........running doesn't work like that.

To maximise your development you need to be running at an easy conversational pace........faster is not better.

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.

Shouldn't be "desperate" to achieve anything with a physical activity as this can easily lead to injury by pushing oneself too hard. Just listen to what one's body is saying and forget about "numbers" or "improvements" as these will come naturally.

I can now run 30 minutes continuously without difficulty and am currently aiming to run 5K with continuous running. I would like to take part in a 10K race here in Paris at the beginning of June 2022 but I know that with only 2 months to go it would be unwise for me to aim for this with such a short preparation time. I will just keep slowly improving without excessive effort and if I cannot do 10K by June then so be it. 😀
