Week six run 1

Whilst I had been warned this run catches some people out after the previous big one, I desperately wanted to return to my favourite run route now that the access path is no longer 2ft deep in mud. This would mean 3 hills (well 2 and then a very long but gentle incline) - the rewards being that the second part of run is either flat or downhill. Of I went enjoying the sunshine and the happy faces of the few walkers and the odd runner I meet. Just coming to end of warm up walk and there is one remaining mud hole it seems - I grab some branches of nearby bush to help me navigate the worst of it and promptly impale myself on some large thorns 🤦‍♀️ - after removing them and wiping the blood off my hand I realise I am too warm and the long sleeve too comes off ready for first 5 min run. I am so happy to be back amongst the fields, farms and the country lanes. It’s quiet at 10am despite this being much later than I would normally run. A junior cycle club passes - their instructors way ahead and speeding on the downhill seem to have forgotten the 10 or so preteens that are struggling to keep up with them 🤔 - I caught up with them after a while when they had stopped to take a break and the kids were now wielding sticks towards the instructors (pay back)! 😂 5 min done then 8 min done and now my podcast has finished (People Just People with Dermot O’ Leary for those that are interested). I decide not to faff about with my phone to start something new and just take in the sounds of the countryside instead. Last 5 min run done and pleasant walk back to the house. Nice 😊

Great work and only one more set of intervals to go before you’re running free! It’s a tricky little run, but no match for a determined new runner. I was sweating just walking this morning… I think my run today will start around sunset!

Thanks UNM - I was definitely thrown by the difference between running in 10 degrees and today 14 degrees!
