Week 5 run 3

The stars have aligned it seems - I wake early but feel refreshed, I have time to get ready for my run without rushing although faffage is still involved (last minute change of sports bra into one that is more comfortable!), I eat a small energy bar. All this in prep for the big 20 min run! It’s 7:45am and quite chilly as I start my warm up walk. Not many people around on my run route - just a couple of dog walkers and I am happy to have the Lane and field path to myself (except for the sheep). Denise is telling me it’s time to start running and although I know not to start to quickly - I do anyway 🙄 but not so much I can’t check myself and correct this as well as lowering my slightly anxious high shoulders. First ten were tricksy but not toxic - good, I can cope with this. Calves are tightening and I wish I had stretched more before starting. Well I was feeling confident and after 10 mins realised that I didn’t want to turn back they way I had done as that would mean running over the sharp and uneven stones the farmer has used in the field path to fill holes and ruts (it’s a bit of a killer underfoot), so I decide my feet would much prefer to finish the run in the small wooded area that has soft spongy mulch paths. This does however mean taking in a hill - it’s shortish and not too steep but it’s a HILL you understand. Took it slow - what am I saying, I only have two gears slow and slowish! As I reached the wood it was so tranquil- birds were singing loudly and the smell of pine and the Earth were so uplifting. I did it and enjoyed every bit - even the now long walk back home. Of course there is an psychological advantage to knowing you have completed this run before but I think it’s more than that - completing C25K and beyond teaches you to relax and enjoy your runs as much as you can. It was a good one 🙂🏃‍♀️
