On week 9 Run3...

So 2 Months ago I posted in here about starting c25k after long covid and was concerned about lots of things.

Sunday will see me completing wk 9 R3 and I can honestly say it's been amazing.

I have the bug.

I did complete it on the treadmill as I am. Self conscious about going outside.

However I have signed up to park run and giving it a try.

If your in doubt, just go for it and hydrate, tons 😊

Congratulations! I did c25k during the first lockdown. Like you I was self conscious but being spring/summer I had light mornings so I snuck out early morning so as not to be seen (not sure that I could have managed the plan on a treadmill-you have done sooooo well!). I found that once I knew that I could run without the breaks the benefits of running overrode the inhibitions . I toddle off now without caring who sees me.Sounds like an excellent plan to get yourself outside by doing the parkrun. Best of luck with your future runs. The right time of year to start your outside running routine!

Thank you. It's a great self Learning journey isn't it?I'm hoping to keep in shape and get fitter for Health reasons but also getting married next year and overcoming BDD - body dismorphic disorder has been quite freeing😊

Not quite there but every day is a new day.

Thanks again x

Surprisingly found running helps with self esteem-I guess it's the knowledge that we can start and a plan and see it through to completion coping with ups and downs along the way and that it is possible to run distances we were previously only able to walk.Getting married-are you going to be a running couple 💑? Best wishes for the future!

My partner tried running but he's too big 😊.He was a body builder and he realised his cardio was really bad, along with the extra weight. So he's stripping down and doing brisk walking... You never know, we might run together one day.

Thank you for your lovely reply 💕

That’s absolutely fantastic-well done. It’s really brilliant it’s worked so well for you.

The main thing I find harder about running outdoors verses treadmill is pacing when you can’t just set the treadmill to go at a certain speed. It might be worth trying a few of the early runs with walking breaks again outdoors just to get used to that. It’s easy to go too fast. Plus the terrain is rarely as flat as a treadmill!

Running outdoors is so great though. There’s no better mood lifter than a sunny day with the birds singing and pounding through the lanes.

Really good luck for your park run and finishing off. Everyone will be rooting for you to enjoy it.

Yeah I was thinking of doing some walk and running outside to get a sense of what outside running is like.I love being outside, I walk everyday and love it.

Im apprehensive about the parkrun but I will give it a go and just go for it.

Thank you 💕 x
