W9 run 1 messed up

I felt great finishing week 8 and looking forward to the final 3 runs. Completed 28 minutes feeling great but today I had one of those runs.

Now this was partly self sabotage, I decided to go a route I hadn't used before, and forgot the hill to get there was a vicious in to walk up in the 5 minutes. 20 minutes in I hit a wall and had to walk back home.

This isn't a setback, just a slight move of the goalposts and the next run will be totally different

One to chalk up to experience !As you say , not a setback!

Think of it as a practice run .

Well done for getting so far in the programme and your positive attitude to your harder run today. A hill is speed work in disguise, you'll be ready for your next run when it comes. Enjoy the victory laps and graduation party!

Not messed up at all, you went out and ran, hills are tough, but these sort of runs make us all better

I’m sure the hill didn’t help - but I think we sometimes just come across those ‘gremlins’ 👹who try to ruin things for us! Next time they hitch a ride, just focus on a positive phrase or affirmation and tell yourself you’ve got this! You’ve followed the programme and can very definitely do this! Enjoy your next run.😀

It's all adding to your experience. In one of my later C25K runs I got lost, running across an unfamiliar field full of long wet grass. I did eventually find a path out of it and regained my bearings.

Excellent attitude, nothing like a dress rehearsal!

Thanks all for the support and PMA trumps all. After 3 x 12 hour work shifts up and out early and determined to get it done this time, and I did it (and had enough in my legs for a 60 second sprint finish) 2 more to graduate.

It's true. Not every run is the same and you can't let a bad day stop you.

Just think of it as a ‘tweak’ sometimes we have to do them, it’s ok x
