Okay... I know... I am so, so late...but I have been flying around like a small flying thing! Very un-snail like.

No runs this week, but enough workouts of all kinds and in all situations to keep me going to the New Year. Many of them involving a small runner in training !

I do know, that despite all, you folk are out there and doing what you are able to do and still enjoying it.

I expect and really hope that all of us will able to be in our own warm corners, for the next few days...but if you do head out there, please do take great care and stay safe.

I will be opening the door to Catch-up Corner on January 1st... Hooray, I hear you cry!

So... the evening moves on... I have just finished my last chore, the tree is lit, the

fire is flickering and I am about to give you my offering for this Winter's Eve.

Don't worry...it is only a short one... :) I couldn't resist and I know it is not brilliant!

Winter Snail

*

It was only a Winter's snail

Just another Winter's snail.

We think the world should take notice

Of the runs we blaze and trail.

Running fast or slow, we're meant to be

It means such a lot to You and Me

On a world wide scale, we're all awesome on our own run trail!

It has been a joy to share the cosy Catch up Corner with you, and I wish you all the happiest of times this Winter-tide .

See you in the New Year.... there's a lot to look forward to !

Thank you Oldfloss I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Ours was quiet and I expect New Year will be the same with just the two of us, but that's fine.

I lost my running mojo shortly after finding it again post-Covid, but I've been trying again this week whilst I'm off work and have put in a couple of short ones (3k and 3.5k) and am aiming for 4k in a couple of days. The hurdle will be after I go back to work on 4th January and I'm back at my desk at 8am and not finished until 6pm....... I'm getting too old and tired for all this 😕

I did and we did thank you. Simple pleasures and time with the close family. Gosh... I do empathise, I really do. Working hard and at this time of the year and having had the dreadful Covid too. It is a wonder you are still standing.

Well, I and we are here to help :)

Catch- Up Corner is starting again on Saturday, I expect to see you there at some point.... and here is an idea for you.

Red January !

google.com/search?q=red+jan...

I am doing it as are many. I am doing it, because I am not running regularly and often just once a week at the moment. But, I am determined to stay fit and healthy, mind and body through these first darker, flatter months of the year.

You simply have to do a physical activity every day in January. Walk, jog, run, swim, yoga, treadmill. core exercises, dance exercise... just something :)

There are great short exercise ideas on BodyFit with Amy.. You tube. Five, ten minutes or longer sessions. Low impact and fun and beneficial.

Yoga with Adriene starts on Saturday too.

Keep it simple. A short walk, an exercise at work ( are you at home or in work?) A short jogette if you get the chance, a ten minute workout from Amy on You Tube...

Finally...you may be tired but you are NEVER too old. We simply adjust and set reasonable expectations, personal challenges to us....we are kind to ourselves.

You will get through this :) We will get through together ! x

I haven’t contributed lately because I haven’t been running ( bad foot pain )Self diagnosed a few things but have now had an X-RAY and blood tests. awaiting results but foot is feeling much better I’ve been marshalling at Parkrun .Since Monday have done a morning speed walk and today a little tiddy run.

Weather was perfect and i feel great for getting out there.

So that’s me for catch up corner

Oh goodness... well maybe the results will tell you what is happening. Well done you on the marshaling too. And, getting out and doing what you are able :) Fingers crossed for a positive outcome from your tests :)

Hi there all 👋 Well, I completed my fourth run since 29th December this morning. Slow and steady, and nowhere near 5k but I am out there again and one can't ask for more than that!

I'm back at work tomorrow and, frankly , I'm not looking forward to it but unless I win the Lottery then needs must after being robbed of 6 years of my retirement by successive governments! I know it's going to throw a spanner in the works as I can't manage the 7.30am runs I used to do before I got Covid in October last year as I'm still struggling to get going of a morning whilst still suffering from post viral fatigue aka long Covid.

However, I have ordered a folding treadmill and the plan is to do a couple of shorter 30 minute/3k-ish runs during the week at home either before I start work at 8am or after I finish at 6pm and heading to the gym on the weekend for a longer 50 minute/5k-ish run on the bigger mill which has more bounce and is less like hard work on my crotchety old spine.

I'm still speed walking 2.5k or so daily with the dogs in the hills, so even on 'rest days' I'm still getting something in. I've also found a few low impact workouts with resistance bands/using body weight on YouTube that I'm going to give a go.

It's 2022 and I have to get back on track! I still have another 2 stones at least to lose and have been maintaining for too long now following a concerted effort last year where I shed just over a stone. Blood sugars are rising again and my blood pressure and resting pulse have both been negatively affected by my illness last year - however, I can't use that as an excuse forever and have to get my a$$ back in gear if I'm to avoid being doubly medicated, which I want to avoid at all costs!

Good luck to us all. Whatever we can manage to fit in, it's better than nowt, so well done one and all 👏😀👏
