Getting back into running - would love company!

Hey guys, so I completed C25K earlier this year, but then took a huge break from running. I want to get back into it, but would love to have someone to run with! If anyone is down let me know, I'm in Milton Keynes.

Welcome to the forum.

In my opinion you are better off doing C25k on your own at your pace with nobody to let you down and just the 120,000+ members of this forum as your running buddies.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Have you looked into whether there are any running clubs locally?

I'm sure there's at least one parkrun in the MK area. Have you thought about doing one of those?

Good call.

I mean, it’s not my thing but I see local running clubs do run beginners courses. I expect it’ll be similar to C25k but with a flesh and blood coach instead of an app.

Many clubs will meet once a week and then runners use the C25K programme for the remainder.

Some leisure centres also run beginner's groups, especially in the New Year.

Redway Runners in Milton Keynes have run groups for all paces, including beginners groups. And there are lots of Parkruns!

I don't know if there's an English equivalent but we have Jog Scotland, which I've just rejoined after many years. It caters for all levels from beginners (non-runners) to advanced (working towards 10 miles I think). It's really good - friendly and sociable, and no-one gets left behind or feels presured to do too much. It meets once a week and is affiliated to Scottish Athletics. Sorry - not much help for you in Milton Keynes, but might be worth looking out for something similar.

Thank you for the advice! I'll have a look at an equivalent for MK which I join, it sounds great for my level.
