So after pushing myself along to do 5k every other day (achieved with a struggle) I thought I’d run a different route this morning and was totally shocked when I realised I had ran 6.1k - was totally knackered and felt it pushed me to the edge but I’ll take it 🤣🤣 x
Go me!: So after pushing myself along to do 5k... - Couch to 5K
Go me!
Well done 👍Try varying your runs a bit rather than pushing for a minimum of 5k every run .
Maybe 1x steady 5k
1x3k done as a quicker or Fartlek run .
Then a 1x slower run increasing your distance (if you want to) by no more than 10% of your previous weekly distance total .
The variation will help build your aerobic capacity
Great run there Shandy.
I did the same run nearly all the time for couch to 5k, but now I find varying the route makes it more interesting
It definitely does! Enjoy it much more thank you 😊
You might also consider stepping onto the Bridge to 10k site? There you will find the Magic Plan that a lot of us have followed to get to 10k. That uses the principles mentioned by Instructor57 . But only if you've followed consolidation advice because there are a lot of people lying about on injury couches on that site. 😆 We all seem to start developing niggles at those longer distances so need to take care. But you will find a warm welcome on the Bridge when you're ready.
Ah thank you - 10k sounds impossible but then again back in the summer so did 1 minute!! I’ll sure give it a go been consolidating for a while and no injuries yet 🤞 😊
because there are a lot of people lying about on injury couches on that site.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
No laughing matter ......... but it made me chuckle 😆
