Look no further than our Stretch & Flex forum:

Thanks, John_W !

I joined the forum, and eventually, found the Youtube video series (better than just audios).

The NHS recommended stretches as linked to in the guide to the plan work well for me.

Pre run stretches should be dynamic and post run stretches static.

This FAQ Post about warm-up and cool down may help healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Not a video but this is what I've been using

nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h...

It's possible to do a standing version of the lying on your back stretches, handy for when your run doesn't end at your home, look up standing figure 4 stretch.

Thank you all for your suggestions. They were all helpful. The guide (Iannoda) is brilliant but links to the same web page as Dylan suggested - not a video. It’s a video I want because I think it will save me from shortcuts. In the Strength and Flex forum (John) I found a pinned tweet with NHS resources, including this 10 minute video which is not specifically for runners but seems very good - nhs.uk/conditions/nhs-fitne... Jackpot!!

Ooh! I'll be taking a look at this. Might be good for a change. Thanks.

Hmm, "staying supple" and "stretching after running" aren't really the same thing, at least not if you want to minimise the chance of injury. As IannodaTruffe said, you should be doing static stretches after running, not dynamic ones. You say you want a video, so I suggest you look at runner-specific ones (as linked by Ian5K ) rather than general ones.

Of course, there's nothing to stop you doing both!

I take your point but need to think a bit about where the two diverge. One of the reasons I liked the video I found was that it was actually quite similar to the routine the coaches take us through when I go for a group run once a week. So it’s not for runners but works for runners I think.

Fabulous. I really like the NHS videos. I also do a lot of Yoga nowadays and YWA has some dedicated videos for runners. So this is her post cool-down video, that might give you some variety when if you want to mix it up a bit:

I think it’s a great idea having a collection of cool down stretchy videos to chose from, so we’ll done!

(I also use the VT Stretch app on IOS to keep my cool down stretches true. I reviewed that somewhere, so if of interest I can dig the review out)

Found the review of the VT Stretch app, and the reply comments also have additional suggestions:

Plenty of routines on youtube. Here are two of my favourites.

Be careful, these are to help prevent injury. If you have an injury from running, don’t do these. Injury specific therapies may require different approaches else you could make it worse.

I use this one after every 5k, I have tried a few others but this is best for me. She does the whole routine and doesn't waffle.
