Left calf extremely painful on Friday and continuing today. Saturday. Should I continue resting until pain gone, or almost, or press on regardless?

Personally, when stuff like that happens. I don't press on regardless, but I do some walking instead of running as I believe it helps to keep moving. The NHS website is a good place to look to help you decide what to do when you're injured.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/k...

Get well soon 💐

Thanks for that. However I am only walking at the moment. I don't intend to run until I can walk without any I'll effects.

The best advice I can give is for you to speak to a medical professional someone who knows your history and can give you specific advice, which is better than asking a bunch of random people on this forum.

I hope your calf feels better soon.

Hi, don't run if you are in pain , give it time to settle .Are you doing the pre run and post run excercises referred to in the program guide ?

Are you keeping fully hydrated, 2.5 to 3 litres a day even on non running days ?

All this will help .

Do you know what caused the injury?

As stated in the guide to the plan.......DO NOT RUN IN PAIN.

Rest and do gentle exercise and possibly massage. The NHS Sports injuries page linked to in the guide to the plan will give basic guidance and the PRICE principles.

If it persists then see a GP or physio.

Take care.

My calf strain was caused by a 71 year old thinking he's 21 pushing himself too hard too soon!

C25k is not about pushing yourself hard at any point........if you are out of breath, you are going too fast.

An easy conversational pace is the most effective to build your stamina and endurance........faster is not better at developing the aerobic base required to be able to run faster and further.
