Yes I'm still here and have learnt a valuable lesson.
First of all my son came to visit and so I took him surfing and learnt that at 52 years of age I have trouble keeping up with someone half my age. Where the brain kept saying of course you can do this, of course you can catch that wave my body kept politely asking "are we dead yet?". The next morning the damage was obvious with a torn chest muscle and a twisted knee.
It really did hit me for six but I remember reading on here that you cant fail unless you give up and stay on the couch. So for the last few weeks I've only been running when I can, as my body will allow with plenty of rest days. I've actually been on week 4 several times and this week I aim to fit three runs in to progress to week 5 .
On other news I did buy some new trail trainers and wow what a difference having support in the right places.
As one of my old PT instructors used to bark "its never the distance that will kill you its always the pace." (mind you he also said that pain was Gods way of telling me that I was one of his special soldiers and he loved me very much, so who knows๐)
So I'm pleased to say still here, still plodding along still determined to go the distance.
