Evening πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ,

I just completed W4R2 and after my last post and reading recommendation, not even my own head got in the way. πŸ˜ƒ

My problem is this. Almost 4 years ago I was struck with Bell's Palsy and to this day the right side of my face is paralysed with no hope of recovery. The only blessing is, thanks to an operation after diagnosis, is my right eye can close. Unfortunately though I can only breathe through my left nostril or mouth. This causes problems of mouth dryness during the walk/run, big time. Does anyone have tips on how to avoid this? I keep well hydrated and now drink around 2 litres of water a day. Not bad for someone who would never drink water unless it was in a cup of tea πŸ˜‚

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks for reading and happy running. Enjoy your evening x

Well done on your progress.

You could try chewing gum or something similar which will naturally cause you to salivate or maybe carry a small water bottle in a belt to occasionally remoisten your mouth.

Good that it’s becoming easier but remember to run easy, not too fast. The faster you run, the quicker you’ll be breathing, the sooner your airways, nose and mouth will become dry and sore.

It’s good to identify this issue now as come the lower Winter temperatures, the colder air dries the airways more. I would try carrying a water bottle. There are special designs for runners to grip, and you probably only need the smallest one as you don’t need it to hydrate your body at this stage. Less to carry! πŸ™‚
