This FAQ Post about buying running shoes may help healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Take other people's recommendations with a pinch of salt..........they are not you, do not run like you and their favourite shoe might injure you.

I'd have thought that specific strength and conditioning exercises targeted to help PF will be more effective than any pair of shoes. YouTube is your friend. Shoe wise, something to consider will be the drop - the height difference between the heel and the midsole.

Getting a decent pair of running shoes is essential, but bear in mind that you don't have to spend £££.

Hi there, I've been getting heel pain too, I was advised by a runner to get a gait analysis. This I did and discovered that I had one foot slightly bigger than the other and my trainers were too small. I got a new pair, they are more comfortable.I've also been doing some stretching exercises.

Good luck

Hi there thank you for your advise I did have PF quite badly about a year ago so I have improved greatly and yes stretching is essential and I also changed my daytime shoes to !! No high heels for me 😂.. ive now found a pair of running shoes (on cloud) and looking forward to feeling the difference on the road now … many thanks again and happy running

I have suffered in the past, and wear supportive insoles in my day to day shoes. I went to my local running shop to get my trainers and explained what I needed, and the fact that I needed something that would support my arch well. Several hundred kms of running in my trainers, and no issues which is amazing. It was also worth going to get sized properly - I ended up in shoes 1 1/2 sizes bigger than what I thought was my 'normal' size! If you have proper running socks (which I would advise to prevent blisters, I bought 'more miles' ones which weren't expensive but have been good), they might be a bit thicker than normal socks so wear them to try on trainers.

Thank you for taking the time to reply and I’ve just invested in a pair of new running shoes they are called on cloud and great for support and comfort plus I can trail them for 30 days to see how I go.. I’m no where near running big times but I’m hoping to at least keep to 30mins 3 x times a week and when that feels easier work up slowly .. thank you again and happy running 💪🏻😊💪🏻

My only shoe recommendation: avoid Sketchers for running. They're comfort shoes, not running shoes.

Plantar Fasciitis may benefit from a shoe with a lower heel drop. However, you're best getting an analysis done.
