Hi folks. Have not started running yet. But walking.Did the first 10 min. brisk walking four days ago. Very painful. Had to have two days off to recover. Did second walk yesterday. Still a little pain but no lasting pain. Going to do my second consecutive walk today. I feel confident I'll complete.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.

We recommend that you should be able to walk briskly for 30 minutes on a regular basis before you attempt to start running. There is a link in the guide to the Active10 walking programme, which might be the best place to start.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

You’re not alone in starting the programme by walking rather than running okb71, it’s a sensible option and will get you into getting active on a regular basis, so well done you! And don’t worry about taking 2 days between walks or runs - I did exactly that when I did my C25K. How you do it is entirely up to you and there’s no pressure to do it in the 9 weeks! Just enjoy it!

Walking not only prepares you physically but it also helps to get you into a routine. Good luck with program 👍
