Hi, I do my runs on a treadmill and I have had a hard time running without holding on. Well yesterday doing week 6 run 1 I actually ran without holding on at all. I am so chuffed about it. I'm not sure why I couldn't let go before, I think something in my mind wouldn't let me because I thought I would fall but I did it!

Well done!
That will serve you very well indeed. Have you had to hold on while briskly walking as well?
No, walking I have been fine, it was just the running bit that made me grab the bar in front.
OK, good to hear. Curious to know your walking and running speeds. Sounds like you may have been going a tad quickly ...
Yes you are so right. I slowed it right down yesterday so you may be right. I was walking at 5k and running at 6k but I walked at 4.5k and ran 5.2k yesterday and I was happy with that.
I'm like that with bicycle handlebars...........
That's great ! It will certainly help your running form !
And as John_W has suggested, you may have been a bit too fast 😁
Well done!!! I am learning that C25k is very much a mental journey as it is a physical one.
First you have to continually build the belief that you can actually do it! Alongside that you have to let go of the fear that you are going too slowly. Work on finding a speed that is right for you it’s best for new runners to start of slowly to avoid injury and build stamina.
Holding on to the side rails maybe be a fear of not being able to finish or going too fast. Moderate your speed and repeat any positive affirmations to yourself that boost your confidence - good luck!
