Week 1 run 1

On repeat, we’ve been running over 2 years now, struggled through C25k and increased slowly to 10k, we’ve become a bit stale this year only running once or twice a week. A conversation with a colleague the other day where she said “i wish I could run like you” had me explaining the concept of C25k and I said we’d run with her if she fancied trying it.

So we agreed to meet at our park with a nice track round it, this is where we started and a good place to run, her dog enjoyed herself too!

The brisk warm up walk was at my 5k running pace and then we set off for the first one minute run, woo this is stretching me, Willow looks comfortable, Jo looks like she could go forever at this speed and I’m loving it!

We completed the 8x 1 minute runs, took our 5 minute cool down walk, picked up a few apples, and went back to the car.

The rules for C25k are take it slow and steady, you need to be able to speak whole sentences without gasping and we could. We ended the run with grins all round, even the dog looked ready for a rest, she was so good too, after a quick run around, some barking and a wee she settled in behind and trotted along with us all the way…..

Rest day tomorrow, work, walk and maybe some yoga to stretch us out

Happy running all

The picture is where we ran but taken a couple of months ago

Thanks, that’s the idea, it did stretch me and if we’d started together 2 years ago we certainly couldn’t have kept up with someone so much younger, we’ll see what happens as we go through the programme

Love it! Guess what I did today 😂

Set out for a 2 mile walk, and decided to revisit W1R1! Took it easy as I was in my old runners and jeans. Really enjoyed it too! 🐌🐢🏃🏻‍♀️😊

What a co incidence, are you going to carry on with C25k? or was it just a one off? I loved it, chose Laura this time and found the level of sound closer to music than Michael who was a lot louder than my music, I’m hoping it will speed us up a bit, and one day we will run longer, Willow isn’t keen on longer runs

I don’t know. I’ve only been running once or twice a week, and I thought that if I run today, I could run again on Thursday…then Park Run on Saturday. I’m thinking it’s an easy way to bump up the mileage again.

I’ve used W1 before as jog/run intervals instead of walk/run. It’s also useful for doing short *timed* runs, instead of focusing on distance…

Yes, we’ve done it once or twice before but I really think running it with a friend will make us push ourselves a bit and doing that this way we’ve less chance of being injured, we were a lot quicker than yesterday’s 20 minutes run even with the walking breaks, and feeling good about that, we’ll be building stamina but at a slightly faster pace than before, keeping it steady but pushing a little, our first ever kilometre took 12 minutes and we thought we were going as fast as we could so it shows how much fitter we’ve got

I love looking back on Strava and comparing notes. This was a deliberately slow run, and it was so easy! I was able to breathe through my nose, instead of gasping for breath, and it was 61.4% in Z2 😊

Yes I love looking back, it’s interesting to see how we’ve improved and especially when we run slow and steady and realise we aren’t gasping for breath 😀

Brilliant!I know what you mean about things getting a bit stale and thus seems like the perfect way to rejuvenate things.

And fantastic that you are spreading the joy!

😃

That’ll be 2 colleagues doing C25k now although one doesn’t live close and he’s much younger with long legs I doubt i’d keep up there

It’s lovely there if you don’t mind going round and round a half kilometer track, what happens often is we run for 20 minutes which is enough for Willow then i go off and run round the roads or to the sea front to go further

How lovely to have someone else to run with W&S.

It was fun she’s a lot younger than us so much faster but will slow down as the runs get longer
