Well I did it. I turned up in the torrential rain yesterday for my first ever park run.
I have to say I made some really rookie mistakes such as not having something to eat beforehand, not warming up properly and going off way too fast. Consequently I walked more of the route than I really would have liked to. These are all things I can learn from.
Having said that, I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED myself. People were so friendly and supportive and above all else WELCOMING. I would recommend anyone thinking of joining in to just go for it. I'm heading off on holibobs now (still in the pouring rain 🌧) but park run will definitely be part of my Saturday morning routine when I return.
Keep on moving forward 🏃♀️ xx

Glad you enjoyed I really must sign up! Yes this rain is getting very boring normally this time in summer the lawn would be scorched but we keep having to mow because of all the rain!! Hope it stops for your holibobs 🌦
Yes go for it Wavy-chick. I really can recommend it. My hubby thought I was completely bonkers yesterday lol. He picked me up and had covered the car seats in towel 😄🤣😂. I can't believe the weather we are having but it is what it is. I'm not holding out much hope for good weather as we are touring Scotland but will enjoy it none the less. Xx
Don’t be too hard on yourself it was your first one and in the pouring rain which can be demotivating and intimidating in itself. I joined park run ages ago and only went once. Was gearing to go again and then lock down hit 🤣 But I had no running experience and had to walk most of the way. But there is satisfaction in having the motivation to turn up so I’d say go again, keep going and keep improving! 💫
Well done penguingirl1. You aren’t the first to get carried away at parkrun and you certainly won’t be the last. I hope someone has warned you that it is totally addictive and Saturdays will never be the same. 😉
