Running in the rain

So I’d planned to run today but yesterday afternoon I felt a bit ropey, light headed and really achey and tired. Had a little nananap with Roma ( my grandcat) and felt hot faced and “ off” when I woke up. I had eaten and drink plenty of water and had a couple do walks but just couldn’t put my finger on it ( Covid test ✅ all clear). So went for an early night and slept the best I have in weeks, only up once for the loo about 4.00am and straight back off again, which is so rare!!

I woke about 8.20 -late for me- and ambled downstairs, already thinking “ probably give it a miss today”…… had a coffee and saw my son heading off for work “ just going to fit a doorbar, mum, then I’m free for the day. See ya later”.

Then I sat about and made another coffee and had a banana….. then my daughter posted her run…… and that was it!! Upstairs, kit on, headphones in, podcast lined up and looked out the window and it was just spitting…. A drop here and there …. So off I went.

And after 2 minutes walking the skies opened!!!! I carried on and don’t really remember much about my run except I was glad when it finished and I could squelch home. Just as I was nearing my house a pillock in a car went through a huge puddle and drenched me from head to foot so if I wasn’t wet before I was now. He could have gone out round it too as there was no other traffic. I expect he thought it was funny!!! 😡

And then I unlocked my door and just undressed in the hallway and left my clothes in a puddle there. Showered, dried myself, put clothes in the washing machine, sat down with my breakfast and I heard my son come in.

“ mum, can you take me to A&E? My backs gone again. Had to get my customer to help me up off the floor when I’d finished. Can’t lift my right leg and it’s all numb”. So I’m waiting now to hear back when he wants collecting. He’s been waiting for an urgent MRI since Feb, has a car go into the back of his mates car as they were in their way to the airport March 2020( they got back just as we went into lockdown) and his back has been bad since then. He’s been fobbed off with stronger and stronger tablets, been to pain management classes, paid out £100s in chiropractic visits ( which have helped a bit), had blood tests, been referred to rheumatology, told he might have ankilosing spondylitis, had his MRI postponed twice( it’s now set for the 19th of this month)….. it’s an ongoing nightmare

Fingers crossed something comes out of today’s visit. 🤞

Yeah I’m glad I ran now and 🤞he’ll be sorted. He’s self employed carpet fitter so won’t take time off if he can help it.

Great rainy run but a shame about that drenching at the end. Hope your son gets sorted soon - must be a worry.

They sent him home with a weeks supply of Diazepam- not really the answer we wanted. Apparently he has bulging discs and muscles have gone into spasms. He’s not in pain now but he is also talking complete gibberish and had to go to bed 🤪🤣🤣

That’s awful your son’s back and how long it’s taking to get investigative treatment is of course typical of the times. The run, good you got out

Yeah at the moment he is either zonked out and asleep on the meds or struggling to walk upstairs to the loo, yelling in pain on every step

Oh heck Lou, that's what I call a trying day! The NHS is on its knees, it's a struggle to get early interventions. Shouldn't be like this. And as for that hilarious car driver, grrr!

Fingers crossed indeed. I truly hope your son gets sorted. This torrential rain is something else, isn't it. Congrats on carrying on regardless!! 😊👍
