I’m about to complete week 8 of the programme, and feel comfortable and confident in the programme, however I’m looking to challenge myself and considering entering the Lincoln 10K in October. I’ve read and seen about building up to one longer run a week by roughly 10% of time (eg/ 33 mins and so on), but on that basis how long should you factor in to “train” for a 10k race? Ideally my aim would be to “run”/jog the whole distance?
So obviously the c25k is a 9 week programme, h... - Couch to 5K

There is a good 10k plan on the 'Bridge to 10K' forum , it's an 8 week program, here is the link

.Lots of people have used this plan .
It would of course be recommended to do the consolidation weeks prior to the 10K plan 👍
It depends on your underlying fitness, Megan, but it should be doable. The Lincoln 10 is at the end of October, isn’t it? That’s a whole four months to work up to it.
As well as not going further than 10% on your once a week long run, it should be run at a much slower pace too. I found this harder than I thought - always found I was still running at the 5k pace! - but it works out eventually.
There’s lots of tips on the Lincoln website, I see. I would recommend some non-running training workouts on your rest days. Mine take no more than 15 minutes each morning before breakfast (while the coffee’s brewing!) and I found they’ve helped my running a lot.
I'd say 10k in October is eminently do-able Newbie_Megan . I used the Magic Plan mentioned by Instructor57 and it worked brilliantly. Happy running!
Well done Newbie_Megan only 1.5 hrs to graduation! - This in the pinned posts FAQs will give you some ideas and advice for post C25K running.

Remember to take it slow and steady.
Enjoy the journey.

That’s plenty of time. It only took me 3 weeks to move to 10k although I wouldn’t advise doing it that quickly as I took a lot of consolidation on the other side.
