Week 6 - poor technique??

I’m on week 6 of C25K and whilst my speed isn’t great (sometimes I think I could walk faster 🤣), I’m completing each run without needing to take a break. However, this week my ankles have started to hurt quite badly. Could this be due to my running technique ie is my weight being distributed incorrectly so I’m putting too much pressure on my ankles? Any suggestions appreciated as I really want to see this through to the end. Thanks and have a great day

Well done on week 6 and following the plan 🙂. I'm going to let more experienced runners answer your ankle question though. Hope the problem clears up soon.

Well done on getting to W6 👏I suggest you rest and let your ankles recover. One possibility may be heel strike, that is your foot is landing in front of you and not directly beneath you. Another possibility is your running shoes and running gait. Is it possible for someone to watch you run, or possibly video you running?

Ankles do take the punishment on runs. It’s important to know that they recover in time before the next run and you’re not just hobbling out the door. If that’s so, I suggest you speak to a doctor or a physio to make sure it isn’t a serious injury.

If they’re recovering okay during rest days, it may just be the newness of running on them; they need strengthening. The running programme will do that but you could also add walking - especially up hills - and other ankle strengthening exercises (search for these on youtube) during your rest days.

It might be technique but you’re running slowly (good). It might be pronation, you might want to look into investing in better supporting shoes. At this stage, week 6, it’s knowing that the knees recover well, and in good time, from any pain or discomfort before the next run.

Speed isn't as important as following the podcast. I got mildly ticked off for running on consecutive days. It isn't advised as it can lead to injury. I have either followed the plan or left even longer gaps, as I'm lazy, and worked for me. I am sure one of the mods will send you a link.

"Mildly ticked off" 😂😂😂

I had one of those when I extended one of my runs. I was a good boy thereafter

😂😂😂😂😂

You might need good shoes. A high drop would help like Brooks. I would get fitted.
