Day 1 omg!!!!

Today was my first day of doing any form of exercise for what must be nearly 18 years. 35 days ago I quit smoking and my plan was once I felt it was the right time to enhance my fitness with running. I heard about couch 2 5k and thought I would give it ago.

Well, it was hard. Harder than I thought, BUT I feel good for doing it. My pace was all over the place and I felt like a beached whale when I got home ( a very red whale) BUT I DID IT!!!

I am planning on going for a walk later as want to get to 6000 steps a day, that's a lot for me, as I typically am very inactive and lucky to do 600 steps.

I am resting tomorrow but will walk the steps and then back to it Wednesday.

I am raising money for BHF as a motivation to keep going.

NEW CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!!!

Congratulations on on your decision to do C25k !And for stopping smoking .

I started running with C25k 12 months ago at the age of 63 . and I am also an ex smoker, I gave them up 24 years ago now!

When I started I could barely run 10 metres!

I now run regular 10k s .

This program is amazing , you just need to trust it and keep going out of the door to do your run .

If you haven't already then do read the guide to the program.

Do the Dynamic warm up excercises before you run and also the stretches after running.

Make sure to keep well hydrated and keep the runs SLOW.

A very slow jog is all that's needed .

Do come back here and post about your runs , you will always get encouragement and support from this forum !

Most of all, enjoy the journey 😁👍

Many congratulations on taking two of the best decision you will have made so far this year🙌🏼. This programme has been devised to help people like us who have not felt motivated or fit enough to venture out to jog. You will get good days and bad days, but if you follow the guide, you will not want to give up. Good luck and enjoy C25K journey👍🏼

Hi everyone. Thank you for your words of encouragement so far. Today was officially rest day however, I took the dog on the longest walk I have ever done and it felt good.

The bit I have noticed most so far with having quit smoking is how even just walking is far easier.

I will update tomorrow evening after official day 2 of c25k.

Take care one and all.

Well done Bbrown. The hardest step is the 1st one out the door. Help and encouragement is here so keep posting before or after each run. Keep fluids up on non-run days, I really noticed if I didn’t. Enjoy your freedom from the cigs and the couch!! Good luck.
