Same! I am quite tired and achy now too. Very hungry as well. But also looking forward to day 2! How long are you leaving it in between runs?

I would leave a day between runs to recover, if u aim for three runs a week it’s a good idea to make your middle run a recovery run when u run maybe at a slower pace and put less goals on yourself e.g run for a similar length of time but don’t worry about pace or distance, this will help. Take your time when u start work on breathing and your pace if you get that balance right u will be unstoppable!! Good luck!

Will take a day's break and then do #2. It's exciting though! Lol

Welcome to the forum and well done on your run.

Are you following C25k? It is a safe way to get back into running after a break, as I am doing myself at the present.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Thanks my partner and I ran a lot during the first lockdown but lost a bit of motivation and had a break. I was running about 3 miles 3 times a week at my peak, and would like to get back to that. I felt great after my run today it made me realise what I had been missing! Looking forward to this new challenge thanks for ur advice 😄

It is very common for those returning to running after a break to try to recreate their former performance but we all have to accept that time has an impact and that our former condition might have taken years to develop, so be kind to yourselves and build up slow, steady and safe.
