Ankle Injury

Running_Up_That_Hill profile image

Just completed week 7 of CT5K and I’ve developed a niggling injury to the upper part of my right ankle. I don’t remember twisting it on a run.

I tried to run again after leaving it for 5 days and the pain is back. I suppose that I have to rest it completely until absolutely normal (which I didn’t do this time around).

Looking at how I run, I over pronate on my left but heavily over pronate (like a duck) on my right.

Any advice re rest, shoes etc appreciated. Thanks.

Follow the advice in the guide to the plan and the PRICE principles linked to.

It sounds like you need a good gait analysis done at a specialist running shop or physio to sort your footwear out.

Cycling is great to keep the joint mobile and increase blood flow without weight bearing.
