Gonna give it a go!

Thank you to all you lovely people and fabulous words of encouragement! I bit the bullet this morning and when I had wrestled 20 minutes trying to Hoyk myself into my sports bra (which is now 3 sizes too small!!) I completed my first run in the snow! I took it slow and steady and I am proud to say I got through it without throwing up or collapsing 🤣! It was lovely to be outside in the fresh air, although I think I over did it with the clothing!! I was a hot sweaty mess on my return, I didn’t tell my husband I was going for a run. When I got back he thought I was still upstairs and didn’t notice I had gone! He was very shocked to see that I had actually gone out of the house unaccompanied 🤣! I am hoping this is going to be good for my mental health, as I can see it sliding in the ring direction. I triply felt elated once I completed it, so I am going to go again on Thursday, so I’ll keep you posted about the run and about the bra situation! 🤪

Well done you! It's a fabulous thing to do when you decide you're going to do it! It's funny learning how to dress. I am now on week 8 and still getting my head round the fact that it's freezing outside but I'm dressing for a chilly spring day 😂. I'm a great lover of fingerless mittens that once my hands get too warm I can push back onto my wrists.

Good luck on your journey. Everyone is here for support if you need it 😉

You've taken that leap of faith Fabh brilliant 👍

Have a read through the plan it's got loads of great advice you'll find will help you on your way through C25k.

Congratulations! It took me six months between downloading the app and actually going for my first run. I feel for you on the bra situation - none of my old clothes fit me but a good sports bra and running trainers are all you need (well, you need some other clothes too - I'm not suggesting that you run just in a bra and trainers!?!) - if I can make it to week 7, you can too.

Isn’t it amazing how cold outside it can be yet when you run you become a hot sweaty mess? I am impressed that you went in the snow. Keep it up and look forward to your post on Thursday 🏃‍♀️

I refuse to wear a bra I have to fight my way into. In fact when I started this (and probably still) the business of getting changed to run could use up all my energy. So my strategy is running things on when I get dressed on a run day, and other things on top which I peel off when I am about to start my run.I bought a sports bra before I bought running shoes (I think I may also, on the advice of the forum) bought big firm control pants early too - the tummy wobble is as uncomfortable as the unfettered breast)

It is tough to dress right, especially this time of year and especially early in the programme when most is walking. It's so easy to overheat though (and not necessarily realise that's why you are struggling) More necessary to be able to keep ears, neck and hands warm than any other bits... those take care of themselves.

Go you!! Brilliant!! My hubby is often completely oblivious when I'm out running....still in bed usually....I sometimes send him a text before I go.......keep it up, you'll be glad you did😊

Well done you! Now you've been out once, the world is your lobster or should that be oyster! 😂 When I first started this program back in February, the puddles were icey then, I thought if I can go out when it's this cold, I can go out in anything, sorry I digress, I didn't tell my husband for a few weeks what I was doing. I went out after he left for work. My daughter knew what I was doing, as she completed the program ages ago. Before she bought sports bras she used to wear two of her normal ones🤷‍♀️ Couldn't bring myself to do that. Anyway, I used to run in a normal fleece and waterproof rain top, with a couple of thinish t-shirts under neath. I already had leggings for yoga, so wore those. I think I looked a bit like a bag lady but hey, didn't care I was out in the fresh air and moving slightly faster then walking pace. I felt very smug. It doesn't matter what you look like at the start or finish, you're doing it and that's great. Enjoy the smug/ high feeling it's great!! Some days you might not feel like going out. It definitely is mind over matter. Just have a good talking to yourself and do it 👍
