Running post-Covid

Morning

I’m finding that after, what was luckily a nearly asymptotic dose of Covid-19, my running pace has dropped significantly. Although not fast by many people’s standard I was happy with 5K in 33 mins. It now takes me 40mins plus which is chastening and much more exhausting than the distance used to be.

Anyone else encountered this?

5K in 33 minutes? Hell... I am only at 30 minutes running (with 2 walking breaks in between) and if I calculate, I won't even get 5K in 40 minutes! Don't worry about pace, you can rebuild pace in time. Plus, slower runners are healthier runners. And it's normal that you have to build up again after an illness. And Covid, even the nearly asymptomatic kind does take a toll on your body I think. I know of people who did have it with symptoms, but not too bad, who needed months and months to be able to walk their usual distances again. So give yourself some slack 🙂
