Making the investment...

β€’28 Replies

So, I followed your advice, went to a running specialty store, had my gait tested, and bought the proper shoes. I even invested in some blister resistant socks. πŸ˜πŸ™„

I am sooo ready for wk 1 run 3 tomorrow.

Very nice kit, your lucky to have shops open, apart from food shops, we're all closed over here! πŸ˜‚

β€’ in reply toPeter44

Some are open, but even at this specialty store, you can't just go in, you have to make an appointment. But, yes...I'm so happy I got in.

Ooh I like those shoes. You did the right thing buying the correct footwear.

You're well and truly ready - enjoyπŸ‘πŸŒˆπŸ˜Š

I kept putting off gait analysis. Now the shops are closed, I am desperate to get it done. Silly billy.

You have convinced me.

Are the socks waterproof too?

β€’ in reply toRennur

πŸ€” don't think so. It says "thermo regulator, hand linked toe seam, dry-mo footed, enhanced elastic bands, high heel tab, reinforced heel and toe." πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Yes! Do it! πŸ˜„

Good job! The right shoes make a HUGE difference.

Socks are wonderful things to invest in, too. I have running socks that are literally a decade old and they are still wonderful.

I agree! I am sooo excited to have blister resistant socks! πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

The best investment I've made this year are the gait analysis and great shoes and socks- felt like I was springing on air in the shop. This was a priority before I even started C25k- as I have arthritis, plantar fasciitis and s partial tear in a ligament from years of standing and over- pronating - hairdressing for 40 plus years had crippled my feet and back!. My 'go faster' shoes and socks have got me to week 9 - and I can't thank the sports shop enough for all their advice and great kit and fitting expertise. Go run!

Yes! I can feel the difference already!

Hello TanyaS, with that kit you’ve already knocked 5 minutes off your 5k time. πŸ˜€

Leaving that aside, run slowly, take the rest days and enjoy the journey.

Yes! This morning my sneakers felt so amazing I did catch myself running faster than I should. Then, I remembered all the great advice on here and sloooowed down. Lol.
