It was grey when I left the house but dry. Weather forecast was also in my favour so off I trot to my local park for a 30 min gentle run.
Really soft and wet underfoot so I left the park and headed for the pavement - so far so good. Then, just as I was getting into a rhythm the heavens opened. All well and good if youβve dressed for wet weather and you donβt wear glasses π AND, most importantly, youβre not wearing your sons super expensive Bluetooth headphones π€¦π»ββοΈ.
I lasted for about another couple of mins and then took the headphones off and shoved them down the front of my leggings to try and keep them dry. All good except for the fact that they kept slipping and I was having to hold them in place so my posture was off - I conceded and I ran home π’
I started this running journey on 7 July and I have not given up on a run so far which means that Iβm gutted that my own lack of preparation meant that I had to cut this run short. I only did 2.2k so I am going out again tomorrow but I WILL be better prepared. I really am gutted because it has been wall to wall bright skies here since about half an hour after I got back stretched, showered and got ready for church.
What a pillock π
I n the plus side - the headphones are still working π€

Well done for saving the headphones. πππ Better luck tomorrow and π€πΌ the rain keeps off ππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈ
Thanks so much. I really was relieved. Iβve ordered some cheap headphones so that I neednβt worry too much about the weather and Iβve located a cap so itβs all systems go now ππ
That purchase is a smart move and I love your can-do attitude! As for the rain, we're entering the season where this is going to be a regular feature so best prepare and by that I mean have a wet-weather route planned (I'm the same - the canal bank I use is treacherous after rain). As for clothing, I just use wicking MMF's because "waterproofs" just get wet anyway, either from outside or the micro-climate within. And don't let the rain put you off going out - you'll only need to do it once to see that it's no biggie. Good luck!
Cheers - Iβll be out later today and am looking forward to the liberation of a run without the worry of headphone ruination even if itβs in the rain. To be fair - I got soaked yesterday and I didnβt mind one bit except for the worry about his headphones. I have got a water repellent running jacket now as well although Iβve not tried it yet.
Hi JetsNanna. You were so supportive when I was struggling with the dreaded W5 R3 that I had to pop by and say don't be disheartened. I know how tough it feels when for whatever reason you don't complete a run but trust me, you will knock it out of the park next time π
Tomorrow is not looking good weather wise here. I've been out in light rain and it's been fine. I have avoided getting drenched so far. There's a first time for everything! π§οΈ
Itβs meant to be fine here for most of the day and I am fortunate that my time is my own for the next few days.
The running in the rain was okay actually but the stress, oh the real stressβ, of those bloominβ headphones πππ
Iβve ordered a cheap pair so if I ruin them in the rain itβs my loss not the boyβs. I really like the look of the ones that hook around the ear but as a glasses wearer they are just too uncomfortable.
Onwards I will plod with my cheap Bluetooth headphones πͺπ»πͺπ»πͺπ»
But you saved the headphones ππ your son will be eternally grateful and it sounds very uncomfortable having to store them in your leggings π¬ donβt see what else you couldβve done π tomorrow will be better πββοΈπββοΈ
Indeed. And because it was a short run I went out the next day. Probably not the best idea Iβve ever had but I did it and lived to tell the tale π
