Week 5 run 2

Wow what an odd start to the day, 5:55 "oh cool il get up in 5 mins and go for a run..." one hour and twenty minutes later I wake up again! Run downstairs to put dog out to be greeted by what can only be described as biblical levels of rain! I run in joggy bottoms and a basketball vest, these conditions where not inviting! No suitable coat for running so had to find a hoodie in the bedroom in the dark 🀣 next problem music... I wear headphones, not really made for pouring down weather! Il squeeze them under my hood... So now I look like a giant blue square headed extra from a Sci fi show 🀣 my brain is screaming at me not to go, do it another day! Forced myself out... Absolutely soaked through almost instantly, jogging suits are surprisingly absorbent 🀣 puddles all over, shoes waterlogged and squelching and I've just finished the warm up walk πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ go home the brain says! Nobody will think less of you... Run says me! The first 8 minute run was uneventful, had to get used to having a hoody on and adjust the headphones a few times to stop things moving but got through it! The 5 minute walk I realised how wet I was and how much water was squirting out of the little holes in my flynit shoes 🀣 realised Im gonna need some more weather proof trainers 🀣. That's enough for today my bothersome brain chimes in! You've done well, go home and get warm and dry and stop this sillyness!

Run says me! I could feel I was tiring when the 5 minute warning came, then the familiar pain in the knee returned, not as bad as before, but there... A niggling reminder that it could stop me at any second. Pushed on. Tiring and in a bit of pain but on I went. 1 minute to go! Il be honest it felt like a minute would be too much, few deep breathes though and managed to keep going until the end!

I'm now home in a nice hot bath and really glad I didn't listen to my brain telling me not to go or to stop... Ignore that little voice and keep going! You CAN do it πŸ’ͺ🏻

Well done mate, good job on getting out there and finishing the run.

I ran in drizzle for the first time today (the weather has always been pretty perfect every other time) - I quite enjoyed it, although I doubt I'll feel the same when it's cold and raining (it was still fairly mild here)!

Just think - if you can run in those conditions there's no holding you back.

Well done!!!! That is good going in soaking wet kit too. Might be time to invest in some sweat wicking gear. Nobody needs heavy joggers dragging them down on these runs, not now we're midway into Week 5! I know what you mean about that last minute feeling too much.. Ah! But we did it. Come on... Roll on Friday for Run 3.
