Thanks AlMorr, I don’t think I will make 5K in the 30 minutes tho’. I don’t use a Garmen nor have Strava on my phone - prefer not to know!

I'm just starting week 8 - but put an a tracking app on my phone at the start of run 7 (I am using addidas running) . I probably won't hit a sub 30 min 5K before graduation - but I figured - knowing the distance covered and my pace would help me to decide what next after couch to 5K . Given my speed so far will probably need 40 mins to do 5K - though I have noticed pace is gradually increasing without me knowing it so could be less? But nice to watch progress. Having said that I am just keeping running at a comfortable pace and and not working at trying to increase it. It is just encouraging to see it gradually improve without me really trying!

What is also interesting is to see how my pace slows when i go over a hill at the start of my run - both the uphill and steep downhill section is slower than my flat pace! I usually have a climb at the end of my run which slows me a lot too!

Might take a short drive and do week 9 on the canal towpath to get as far as i can in the time - or at least for my graduation run in just under two weeks!

Thanks for your comments, it is good to share these little things with others. Aren't hills just tricky little devils? I have structured a course that starts with an uphill warm-up walk, then a nice gentle descent of 2 minutes at the beginning of the run that gets me in a good frame of mind. After that it is what you might call "undulating". The canal option sounds a good 'un.

Hi, and thanks. I see that you are a graduate. Did you move on to the 10K app?

Not yet. I have managed a 5k run but I am happy to keep on with the 30 minute runs for now as it fits in with work and other caring responsibilities. I will move on at some point though.
