Hi I had been successfully completing the weeks to my surprise and was up to week 6 run 2. When of all things I was playing football with my kids and somehow twisted my back and think I ended up with sciatica and could barely walk for the last 2 weeks. My question is when I start again next week do I go back a couple of weeks or keep going from week 6??
? What week: Hi I had been successfully... - Couch to 5K
? What week
Personally, I would go back a week, just to be easy on your back. Generally the advice is that you don't lose condition in a fortnight.
I
agree back to week 5, just to rest that back a bit longer, no point rushing on it’s not a race and safe training means less injuries which means less rest time x good luck
Sorry to hear about your back. Painful no doubt and frustrating to have your running programme interrupted. Re you back, so long as you have no allergies take ibruprofen and paracetamol after food always. You need adequate pain relief so you can move. Movement is what will help you get better. Take regularly every 4 hours and try to keep moving. I am a physiotherapist just so you know this advice is sound. If the pain moves closer towards you back ( ie not as far down your leg) it is improving even though the pain may feel worse. Any symptoms in both legs or sensation changes in your genital area, head straight to the doctor prompto. If you can , try to get an appointment with a physiotherapist. You should be able to self refer without going through the GP. Re the running. Stop , I doubt you can run anyway due to pain. When you start running again go back at least as many weeks as you stopped , possibly even more. This may seem like a step backwards but you will find that you are stronger than when you did it the first time and progress quickly. Wishing you well.
I agree with the others. You're probably best starting again from Week 4 or 5 to build up the stamina.
And never ignore pain.
