My last 2 runs have been on grass which is quite bumpy and uneven and now I’m experiencing pain on the top outside edge of my left foot, I didn’t run today as I was worried I would make it worse but went for a walk. I’ve applied ibuprofen gel and a cold compress.
I had a similar problem nearly a year ago , I went to the doctor and was told I had soft tissue damage and possibly a hairline fracture and was told to rest it for 6 weeks . Not caused through running .i am a little worried though .
I am going to try to continue and run tomorrow ( w2 r 2 ) but not on the grass.

I’m not medically qualified, and indeed I haven’t examined your foot even if I was. I’m wondering though if this is down to either your shoe or the lacing of it. The latter being too tight is a common cause of pain on the top of the foot... the former can be an issue if your shoe is the same size as your regular shoe... most distance runners wear at least a size up to allow room for the feet to expand... mine for example are a size and a half up. Obviously the cheapest solution would be lacing as it’s free... have a look here at the wide forefoot technique for a starting point. runrepeat.com/top-10-runnin...
