25 mins straight!

I won't lie, I was pretty nervous about today's run... Wk6 R3. I found run 2 pretty tough, the most exhausting so far, so a little self doubt had crept in about my ability to run for 25 mins solid.

I also changed up a few things this morning... so I was a little apprehensive about any potential effects that might have. I switched from the podcast to the app and my own playlist, donned my new trainers, and I ditched the water bottle I've been clutching since I started the programme. Instead I packed a small soft flask with a few mls in my running belt with my phone... just in case (a bit of a safety blanket I guess - I know it's not really necessary on such short runs).

I needn't have worried.... it all went pretty smoothly. When Laura said there was five minutes left, I must admit I thought she was going to say there was just 1 minute... but I just plodded on until the finish.

Feeling super pleased to have achieved the 25 minute mark.... Wk 7 here I come πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜Š

Thank you.. and you're so right... I still feel I have a way to go to get the 5K under my belt... but at this point I know it's achievable. Great programme, made even better with the support of this lovely community.

I’m hoping I will feel like this too after my run wk7 run 3 due tomorrow! I struggled the first one and stopped for about 5 seconds but was determined to continue. The semiconductor one I did Friday I stopped just before the 1 minute end warning to be sick!! So I’m a little anxious about tomorrow tbh πŸ™ˆ I am running with a friend in the morning so hoping she will be my distraction!!

Good luck for tomorrow.

It sounds like you may need to slow down a little (if the running is making you sick)? I 'run' quite ridiculously slowly, but I intend to continue at that pace until I'm running the 30 mins... I'll work on speed once I've achieved that duration. Maybe ask your friend to set a slow pace to keep you from going off to fast?

Thank you Sara_Wales that’s really good advice! I think I have been pushing to run faster rather than taking my time. Like Jo Whiley says it’s not a sprint πŸ™ˆ maybe I should listen!! Thanks 😊

Well done !! Sounds like you’ve found a good set up to make you feel comfortable and confident for the future runs .... sometimes it takes one run for it to all fall into place.

Well done again !

Well done, tommorow is W6 for me. Also back to work after 3 months so apprehensive about W6R3. But then again I felt that way about the last run and still done it. Contemplating trying new shoes for W6R3 or sticking with what I know. I'll probably make the decision about a 1min b4 the run πŸ˜„

Thank you πŸ™‚

Sounds like a big week ahead! Good luck with work and the runs. You'll be ready for R3 when you get to it, and the feeling of achievement after will be worth all the effort.

I was a bit reluctant to switch my shoes, but the cushioning had gone on my old ones. I really felt the benefit of the new shoes on my last run. I wore then around the house for a day to wear them in... and to feel reassured that they wouldn't cause me any problems.

Hope you're enjoying your weekend.

Make sure you let us all know how you get on!?
