Oh my goodness! Just completed 1st run of week 4😃

I was so nervous and didn’t think I would make it. I found the last bit tough and have to say I was very slow, but I did it!!!

Welcome to the forum and well done your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

If it is tough, slow down.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you

I suffer from asthma so breathing is my problem.

Well done on making a start and welcome to the forum. Slow is good, it will get you where you want to go, so if breathing is tricky for you in particular, then a slow pace will help. A snail's 5k is the same distance as a hare's 5k 😊 and many of us on here have learned to embrace our inner snail 🐌 .

Thank you so much for the encouragement 🙂 I am not a runner at all but am doing this to try and get fitter before I’m to old to get off the couch😂😂

I started C25k last summer as a mum of two teenagers and a complete novice runner. I used to say "oh I don't do running" and now, despite 6 months off after injury during week 9 on my first attempt last summer, I am now a graduate and "a mum who runs" and nobody is more surprised by that than me!

Stick with it and you will be so glad and grateful. Good luck!

That’s amazing!!! You have inspired me to keep going.

I’m 59 and love walking but never running! Thought it was time to try and achieve this. I hope I can make it to the end! 😬

in reply to Madfunky

Go for it!! You can do it. Just listen to your body, be sensible and stick to the plan but if you need to take extra rest days that's absolutely fine.

Doing C25k is one of the best things I have done for myself in years. I have done yoga for a long time, picked up Pilates a couple of years ago to cope with a muscle inbalance issue and I have always walked miles with the dog, but I didn't feel cardio fit. After my mum's awful osteoparosis diaganosis (which was a scary wake-up call) I picked up C25k and I haven't looked back.

I turned 50 last year, so when I restarted after injury in January I made it my aim to run 5k at 50 and I am hoping to do that on my next run 🤞🏼.

Good luck on your C25k journey 😊 and happy running!

Amazing!!

The other day I read somewhere:

"No matter how slow you run, you are still overlapping those sitting on a couch"

And that's it! You got up from the couch, no matter how slow it will take you to those 5k, I think it is wonderful just to go out and do our bit x

Hadn’t thought if it like that. I am really trying to push myself as I don’t want to let this defeat me !! X

Don't push too much - you don't want to get injured 😉

How far are you into this journey?

Started wk7 today. I thought I was dying doing 60 seconds. Am amazed at doing 25 minutes non stop now. Miracles are real!! 😎😂

That’s amazing 😉 that seems impossible to me at the moment! X

It's really only 8 runs if you think about it. Don't look too far ahead (that was my undoing in wk3!). Enjoy, and be proud, of what you've done. Be positive (again my undoing 🙄). You'll do it. When you've done Wk4, look back to Wk1 or 2 and see the difference - it's amazing!

Well done you! Keep it up slow and steady. I got to W4r2 and I’ve had to stop 😢 as I’m having to shield for an operation a week tomorrow 😱 hoping to get back to it after I’ve recovered. Following people’s journeys is keeping me inspired while I’m stuck at home. #keeprunning #thisoldiecan

Oh no! Poor you, I hope it’s not to serious and you recover quickly👍

Thank you for the encouragement and hopefully I will still be here when you recover to encourage you! 😉x

Thank you, I was trying to get as fit as possible for this op but I’m going to carry on afterwards if at all possible! I’m 63 and like my food too much got to get rid of the calories somehow! I actually enjoy getting out on my own.
