Knee supports

Hi everyone

I’ve completed weeks 1-7 on the app and the last week I have given myself a rest from running because my left knee has started to hurt when I run. I was just wondering if a knee support would help me in the long term? I’ve really enjoyed the running and I don’t want to give up now because of my knee. As soon as I run the pain starts but then after a while it does disappear and then it comes back after my run. Any tips and hints would be fabulous thank you :)

I don’t see as it would harm 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi Mazzy I have the same problem. From week seven I had to leave two days between runs. (Not sure if that is okay or not on the program). I bought a knee support and that definitely helps. I am doing the warmup exercises and the recommended knee strengthening exercises too. I bought a knee support and that definitely helps. ... nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/k...

I hope that this all works to solve the problem as I’ve really enjoyed the progress I’ve made. If I manage to graduate and it’s still a problem I’ll have to see a sports physio as I don’t want to stop.

I hope you manage to sort it out, it is annoying. Good luck!

Hello! Thank you so much for replying I really appreciate it. I will invest in a knee support and do the exercises you have mentioned. This may sound like a silly question will I need knee supports for both knees or do I just use one on the knee that is hurting? Fingers crossed that works and good luck with graduating you definitely will do it :)

I use an elastic knee support sometimes (Sabona?) when my knee is playing up but only on that knee (injured 20mths ago) it helps ease it off. I did try running with it on but I took it off, was distracting maybe felt unbalanced, I don't know. The support seems to give the knee a rest, although when I was recovering the osteopath said not to use, do the exercises she gave.

I’ve never found them any help. But knee pain is very common on this plan. It might just go after a couple of weeks. Mine did. Try ibuprofen.
