Week 8 run 3

I really didn't feel like going out this morning but I am so glad that I did. I think I have my running mojo back. I had an extra day's rest due to work commitments and I really felt the difference. My route involves 2 steep hills (its a country park in an old pit village and the local park run route). I have only managed to run up the second hill once before, the first time I turned back half way up and the following time I gave myself a good talking to half way up. Today I slowed it right down and was literally putting one foot just in front of the other. I was surprised at how much this felt better going up the hill than last time. I managed to get a little further than last time as well.

I am really looking forward to my last 3 runs. I am hoping to get a gait analysis done over the next couple of weeks and am going to treat myself to some nice new running shoes.

Good luck to everyone else on their running journey.

Super well done! It is amazing what an extra rest day can do.

Forward to week 9!! Well done for tackling the hills - I’ve just jogged every cul-de-sac in the village to avoid a gradual incline on my normal route, an actual hill seems out of the question! 😄

Thank you. I though I would tackle the hills as I really want to do the parkrun in my village as my first one. I could take it easy and drive somewhere flatter but the country park is right on my doorstep. I feel stronger for running up them though. I occasionally go the other way round but still come across hills even thought the view is different.

Just try the incline, if you don't get to the top you can always turn back and the next time you will be able to run further up it. Good luck.

I will give it a go one of these days! Only 4 runs from the end myself and I think I’d like to incorporate some hill runs and intervals when I get to the consolidation phase.

Wow, well done! I avoid hills at all costs 😅 I'm doing that same run tomorrow, already looking forward to our final week!
