Managed to squeeze in the last run of week two while it was just drizzling rather than raining.
Made some interesting observations (apart from apple trees preparing for a full blossom). Apparently, my stride got reduced by more than a third (according to some tech) and breathing indeed feels much easier. Yes, slowing down helped π Some shin pain is still there (no dependence on shoes, tried alternating two pairs: the older and probably too well-worn, with new, that aren't yet broken into properly and where the heels feel just a bit lower than in my older runners), however I've not made any two day breaks during this second week comparing to the first.
Let's see how things go next week and
best of luck, everyone!

I found keeping my speed very low was the key to completing the programme. The Japanese slow running videos on Youtube were very helpful, as they stopped me running with my head down watching my feet and running too heavily with too much bounce!
