Well I’ve only just gone and run for 20mins, W5R3 in the bag. I’ve been apprehensive all day, had a lovely 3 mile forest dog walk this morning to calm me down and fill the day before my evening appointment with my Brooks Calderas and the good old welsh rain. Changed my route a bit to avoid the worst of the hill and low and behold I smiled, smiled, smiled all the way through. Set my Fitbit to record just the run and I’m overjoyed with 3.3km. I think for the first time I believe I can run for 30 mins, reach 5k eventually and nail this C25k. It is an amazing programme and I’m super happy I’m doing it!! Been jumping around the house overjoyed, my greyhound and lurcher think I’ve lost it!!

You will be able to run for 30 minutes, you can now run for 20.

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran 🏃🏾 😊

Cheers AlMorr I’ve had a sneaky look at w6 so will aim to be mentally prepared. Thanks for the congratulations I’m so happy to have done the 20!!!

🎉 brilliant, well done🎉 This is my favourite run of the program! Glad you enjoyed it, even if your dogs are a bit confused 🤪

You will get to 5k in no time by those stats! My best time was 8. Something minutes per k! I averaged 9-10 minutes per k. You are smashing it✋

Just remember as the longer runs kick in, it’s about stamina at this stage, speed can come later 🌶

Thanks Jalapeñolover I did consciously make the effort to remind myself to slow down and pace. I think I was a bit speedy last night as it was pouring down so I just cooled down and seemed to scoot along nicely. If I make 5k by the end of the programme then it’ll be a huge bonus. My goal is 30 mins as I know lots or 30 min approx trails in my area that I’m excited to try! If that becomes 5k then so be it!!

Well done!! Do you mind me asking what gear you have to run in the dark?

Hi Hanaf, thanks. I’m running around my local streets so it’s fairly well lit but I have used ahead torch occasionally, mine is a Quark by Alpkit but any decent one will do as long as it’s not too heavy to bounce around and gives plenty of light. My running jacket is a cheapish New Balance one with lots of reflective bits on the back and front and my running tights have reflective stripes also. I do have reflective arm bands ready for my longer runs as I’ll be going into darker areas. Reflective running vests are also fairly cheap to buy. Hope that helps?

Fantastic. I loved this run, possibly more than any other. I could run non stop? Me? Really?

It was so nice to read your post and see that you went through all of the same thoughts and apprehension as I did. I spent all day mentally preparing for it.

Just goes to show, the program really does work. It's just our heads we need to work on.

Great going. If you are like me, you might feel a bit frustrated with the next couple of runs. But then you've got you're freedom to run and you wont look back!

Cheers Mig, yes I did enjoy the run last night. Feeling a bit stiff and sore this morning but that’s to be expected I guess given the jump up to continuous running. Looking forward to the the rest of the programme and seeing what it brings in terms of how I cope.
