Newbie rain running

Silly noob question: I’m just about to go out on my second run of the programme - I’m happy to run when it’s cold but looking ahead at the forecast, I’m in for a solid week of rain fairly soon. I don’t want to stop just as I’ve got started - so what can I wear to run in the rain?

I would check out running jackets online.

I got a nice Ron Hill running jacket for about £40.

I would also recommend a baseball style cap, just to keep the rain out of your eyes.

Thing is, if you're soggy from sweating, or soggy from rain, it doesn't make a great deal of difference 😆😆.

I think I might actually be a bit twisted, because my favourite runs are in torrential rain!

Not a silly question at all but you might not like my answer😂 I just wear my normal running gear and a baseball cap because once your wet your wet right. Good luck

I agree with what’s been said already - you could get a little jacket or you could just get wet, once that’s happened you can’t get any wetter can you?! Good luck with the plan!

It’s quite nice to run in the rain, and then get a warm shower afterwards 😁

I went to TK Maxx and bought a running jacket for around £20. It’s great to run in the rain. I love it and running in the dark too.

Welcome to the forum and well done

on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Wear a jacket and get wet from the inside or forget about it and get wet from the outside.

Enjoy your journey.

I think the one real problem is actually setting off in real rain (not shower or drizzle) when it is also very cold and windy. Those conditions are not nice! 😨 It’s really hard for me to warm up as I go if I’m drenched from the start and the wind is blowing, and I do usually wait & hope to go later. 🤔 Luckily, everything being bad together is mercifully rare. Just don’t want you to think no one ever gives in - at some point, it becomes daft to set off. Rain once you’re moving and warm is altogether different, and I’m fine with that. I do always wear a baseball hat to keep my glasses clear-ish!
