I’ve got a cataract op on the 9th of December so I want to graduate before then - don’t want to damage my eyes. Next op is 9th of January so I’m seeking advice on training during this period. I suppose it’s going to be all low impact stuff?

Best person to ask would be your eye doctor and see if you can run or not. 😊

Checked the nhs website and they say it can take 4-6 weeks to recover fully. Will I loose conditioning if I can’t run for 4 weeks?

Usually you don't lose any fitness up to 2 weeks . You might not be able to run for 4-6 but dont worry . The determination that you have will get you back up to where you left off.

If your medical team are happy for you to run, if the day is sunny and you felt safe, you may find sunglasses more comfortable both before and after the operation.

Wishing you well.

We’re not medics here Enxo so probably best if you speak to your eye doctor - which I’m sure you plan to anyway! Hope the ops go well and that you’re back out there with 20-20 vision before too long!

Don’t risk or compromise your eye sight! The runs will wait!! When you are given the go ahead by your medical team it will be a great feeling to go out & run with clear vision. The world will look and feel brighter!

If it’s longer than 2 weeks go for a 5min walk and then run and see how you do & build up from there. In the meantime some fast walking to keep your routine going may be helpful!

Hope all goes well with both ops & we look forward to hearing how you get on.

Ahh now I understand why you’ve been going at it as hard as you have!! - ask your docs they are the only ones who can advise you! Hope all goes well for the op !
