Two firsts! 30 mins and... snow!

Tuesday I did week 9, run 1 - my first 30 minutes of continuous running. Tuesday also happened to be an early snowstorm, so I was faced with running... in the snow. In retrospect, perhaps I should have put the run off to the next day when sidewalks would be cleared, but in the end, I actually think the snow helped in an odd way.

While running in a couple of inches of snow was challenging, it sort of distracted me from the length of the run. I was more worried about finding a route with the least amount of snow, and with being careful of ice and slippery conditions. Before I knew it, the podcast was telling me I only had 5 minutes left!

I'll be doing run 2 tomorrow (we had more snow this morning, and I'm going to wait this time), but I already feel so accomplished. The end of the program is in sight! It feels like just yesterday I was starting out, and would have struggled to run even 5 minutes. So happy!

Well done! Sometimes it's good to have a distraction to stop obsessing about how many minutes you have left! I have never run in snow or ice, did it feel magical or just slippery?

Luckily it wasn't slippery, as the snow was fresh (no time to melt and ice over). There was some magic to the surroundings, but mostly it felt like a lot of effort and resistance!

I'm planning on week 9 run 2 tomorrow as well. No snow here, just biblical rain ☹

It's always so strange how even such a small distraction can help the time go by so much faster!

Congratulations on the 30 minute run. Stay safe in the weather!
