W9 R3 Done!

It's taken a little longer than 9 weeks, but I finally graduated this afternoon! I think I'll continue with week 9 runs for a couple of weeks as I'm still struggling with 30 minutes running at the moment, but once I find it a little easier I think my next step is a ParkRun... :-)

Well done. Keep that smile. If you need to just drop your pace and go slower. It does help

Thank you. I seem to tire a little around 25 minutes so I'll slow it down a bit on my next run and hopefully it will be a bit easier!

Congratulations-remember you don’t have to be able to run a full 5k to do parkrun- some people walk the whole lot and lots run a bit and walk a bit. You could just repeat w9r3 at park run - walk your first 5 minutes - run for bit and by the time you’ve finished your cool down you’ll probably have done your 5k. I waited til I could run 5k before I started parkrun but realised I could have started much sooner. I love parkrun. It keeps motivated to carry on. Congratulations once again

Thank you. Yes, I need to stop making excuses and just go, really :-)

Aw - it’s a big deal - I was worried about not finishing the first time I did it or what would happen if I wanted to give up and go home ... or worse still feeling like I wasn’t a ‘proper runner’ and shouldn’t be there. That was all solved by inadvertently gatecrashing a parkrun in the park near my daughters house. I went for a run in her park and all these runners appeared I went a different way but kept bumping into them I decided to run with them rather than against them. I saw that I was a slow to average pace but didn’t get laughed at and that I could easily duck out anytime I wanted to and that gave me confidence to try my local park run. They only scan your barcode at the end so if you decide you want to leave early there is no drama. I found it really emotional, in s as good way, to run with others ‘like a real runner’. Good Luck

Well done! What an achievement! Great idea too! You will just keep on improving from now on. Only thing I would say would be to take it slow. Keep running on alternate days and only Increase time/distance by small increments each week. Oh and if you haven’t invested in a foam roller...it is so worth it!

Thank you.

A foam roller?? Help me out, what is a foam roller?! I've never heard of one!!

You use it to stretch out and ease your muscles by rolling over it or rolling it over you. They are fab!

Hey Bagpuss72 that’s amazing. I’ve been stuck on Wk9 R2 for a bit now. You’ve inspired me to get my running shoes on and get out there. Well done on graduating! How long did it take you?

I had 8 days between wk9 r2 and wk9 r3! It's taken me since May as I had 6 weeks out with a chest infection. I also found that once the runs got a bit longer I found it harder to gather the motivation to run so often as I found them more difficult. It's not so bad now I'm not finding it easier! Good luck! Go do that run, you know you want to! You'll get your graduate badge... ;-)
