Treadmill running

Hi fellow runners. I started C25K in May and graduated in June, so the weather has mostly been pretty good. I have got in to the habit of running early in the morning before breakfast. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to get moving now it's darker and wetter, so thought I'd try the treadmill at the gym. I only managed 2.5k before giving up. I think I have got too used to running outside. Any ideas?

Set incline to at least one that makes it closer to running outdoors.

The only other advice is to give yourself time to get used to it.

That's a good idea, I'll set the incline. Yes, I guess I'm just expecting to be able to do it the same as outside. Must be more patient! :)

Yes be patient and learn how the machine works too, programs, speed etc.

I hope you enjoy it 👍

Find a distraction or you may die of boredom.

Keep running outside. Treadmills are soooo boring.

I think I agree! I'm just going to have to change the times of my run and put up with getting wet! :)

I would say it just takes time to get used to it

I did all of C25K and juju's plan to 10k on treadmill during allergy season, now I am running outside, it took me nearly 2 weeks to get used to outside running, now the treadmill feels strange, but I know I'm probably going to have to get back on it next Spring.

I did have my incline at 1.5, good music and I practiced daydreaming :D

I do plenty of day dreaming! I shall try again and see how it goes. :)

in reply to backintime

I can't daydream on it or I'll fall off 😉have you ever seen someone flying off a treadmill?

You just need to get your legs on auto-pilot

watch a series on a tablet or daydream, or sing, or anything to stop looking at those numbers that go soooo slowly when you're tired :D

in reply to backintime

I use my tablet most of the time and it does the trick..

If you do manage to fall off, do try to video it, I could do with a laugh 😉
