Just going to start couch to 5 k

Hello any advise before I start ? Not done much exercise in the last 4 years have found a friend whose willing to do it with me I will prob have to take it slow as have dodgy knee at mo and asthma but I see so many doing it on here so well done everyone as it has give me the push to give it a go 😀

The only advice I can offer is to follow the program as it works. If you really struggle with any of the runs, slow it down - it’s not a race. Good luck and enjoy the endorphins!

Hi trust the program it really does work. Keep it slow and steady. Then slow down again. The support you get on here is amazing. Go at your own pace and enjoy. Good luck.

The only thing I would add is believe in yourself and enjoy your journey....but be warned, it is very addictive...best of luck

As everyone says trust the program. If you are finding it tough just repeat a week as many times as you like until you are ready to move on. You will get there and feel much better for it.

Great for wanting to start c25k and you have a running buddy. Just go slow and slower again if needed. Make sure you're drinking plenty water 7 days a week not just on run days. C25k is an amazing plan and really does work you'll get lots of encouragement and support on here good luck 😊

The only advice I can give is just to go for it ! The hardest bit is starting, but once you start it’s a lot easier to keep going. You really will feel better for it. Good luck.

I have arthritis in my left knee and wear a knee support and my knee feels stronger now. I started running last year at the age of 65 having hated running all my life. Pace yourself, I found I try to run to fast then burn out. Endurance is more important to me than speed and I can now run 8k. I was sure I might have to repeat some weeks but I didn’t, but there’s nothing wrong with it if you have to. Drinking water is so important to keep your joints lubricated. I’ve also found yoga helps with my hips, tight hips was the problem I had but yoga helps me to stretch them and keep them open. Good luck, can’t wait to hear how you get on 😊

Well done Grannysqua, keep positive, believe in yourself, trust the programme and you’ll do it. Some days are easier than others, and some days you really won’t feel like running, but once you get started you’ll feel so much better. Just keep at it, keep a slow and steady pace and feel great about every achievement.

Well done on starting! I had a dodgy knee before I started, and I was worried, but after the first week or so, it’s given me no trouble. Oldfloss on here gave me great advice: tread lightly - “kiss the ground with your feet” - your knees will thank you for it! Take care, go slow and check with a GP if you’re concerned. Enjoy it!

Very good thank you! I absolutely love the running, I’m totally addicted 😄 I did have to pause for a few weeks as I picked up an injury, but I’m back now. Do follow the link someone’s posted for the beginners tips - really sound advice, very important. Do the stretches after your runs, take it slow and I bet you’ll be addicted too before you know it!

Well done for starting the journey 😊All I will say listen to your body if you are struggling go as slow as you need to it isn’t a race and if you need to repeat any weeks do it as the weeks progress and you get further into the journey you will find your fitness level will have increased and will become easier😊Above all just enjoy it and it is v addictive 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Thanks for the advise and yes will do it at my own pace I think my friend is a lot fitter I prob b a hindrance hope not 😀 it will be the hare and the tortoise lol 😀
