All runners need good core strength. When I suffered similar, it was soon cured by planks and bridges.

Google core strength exercises for runners.

So perhaps I search out some suitable exercises I could do?

That's my recommendation.

Thank you, I’ll give that a try. I took your advice from earlier in the week and had gait analysis yesterday so armed with suitable trainers now 👍

Was that your first run in new shoes?

Did you have back pain previously?

New shoes can support you differently and can sometimes create temporary issues, while your body adjusts.

I had slight back pain from a run on Tuesday then it was first run in new trainers last night

It may just pass as your shoes bed in, but working on your core will give you benefits, so well worth doing.

Hi, yes I have had lower back pain niggles on and off throughout the programme and from memory wk 4 was one of the first times I noticed it. I find some Pilates stretches helpful and oddly going for a very slow, light jog helps, often ending them with no pain! I have to stress my experience is of very low level pain that doesn't impact on my daily life or inhibit my movement - it is just a niggle or a stiffness really. If it is anything more serious than that I would seek advice from a qualified health professional. Best of luck!

Thanks for feedback. Like you, it’s not impacting movement but is like a nagging ache. Think I might rest it a few days but start doing some daily stretches. Good luck on your journey through the programme too!

I have lower back problems and take TUMERIC supplements. It is an alternative herbal medicine and seems to do the trick for me : Turmeric and especially its most active compound curcumin have many scientifically-proven health benefits, such as the potential to prevent heart disease, Alzheimer's and cancer. It's a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and may also help improve symptoms of depression and arthritis.
