Before I regret it

Sissinghurstrunner profile image

I have always thought I lived a reasonable healthy life and was reasonably fit. Then in 2008 I was diagnosed with a heart condition and had 2 stents fitted. I wasn’t fazed and got on with life. Grandchildren came along, they both exhaust and revitalise me and bring so much love to my life. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with prostrate cancer, luckily it is currently fully contained within the gland, again not fazed. Now at the point in life where I think I need to do more to help myself, I want to dance any my Grandchildren’s wedding. So I have downloaded the Couch to 5K and enjoying the challenge, don’t grow old gracefully, get out and kick up some dust. Eat good food, drink nice wine in moderation and run in the sun and rain 😊

Hear! Hear! 👏👏👏👏(standing ovation)👏👏👏👏👏

Welcome to the programme and forum! You've got a great attitude and should do well. There will be easy runs and hard runs, feeling on top of the world and at other times perhaps a little defeated, but we're here to provide support and/or accolades, whichever you may need.

Welcome! I think you love joining this fabulous group... your positivity (in the face of recent health problems) will help you greatly on this journey, as will your comments help others!

Couch25K is fun! Hard but fun.

I was a complete-no-runner prior to this experience!

Enjoy.

What a great attitude to life.

I'm sorry to hear that you have had a tough time recently. Hopefully the stents will have relieved the chest pain and given you a new lease of life. My father in law also was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 18 months ago and after radiotherapy is fully recovered and you sound like you have a very good prognosis too. C25K is a fantastic challenge and wonderful way to get fit at a slow and steady pace. Happy running!
