Picking up where I left off....

Having started couch to 5K once before and never progressing past week 2 I started again this year and initially loved it. At Easter though i started looking for excuses and not going out when I should...missing out runs and not getting out 3 x in a week and it wasn't long before I fell off the wagon all together! so its been almost 3 weeks with no runs! I went back out with a friend last thursday but we didn't really follow the app and just ran a little between plodding just to get moving again...

This morning however i picked up where i left off... week 5 run 1! and my god it was hard! BUT i finished it... and i flew solo whereas I would usually run with friends. I think i am going to repeat this run on weds as I think 2 x 8 min runs might be getting ahead of myself a little but I am delighted that i finished this mornings run! and most importantly i enjoyed it again even though it was hard!

In the 3 weeks that I missed I put on an obscene amount of weight and just generally felt rubbish having felt so well before... so I have to remind myself of this when the excuses start to creep in!

Any tips for staying motivated??

I believe that this is not a question of motivation but of discipline. You just need to get out the door and do the runs without making excuses 👍✅🏃🏾‍♀️

Well done for getting back on it! Sounds like you are pleased with your decision to start running again and have perhaps surprised yourself by being able to complete the run today, and even enjoying it. Maybe that's all the motivation you need? Keep feeling happy with yourself, keep enjoying it.

I find posting here keeps me accountable. I am in consolidation phase and signing up to things like the Global Running Day, or just posting here that I will be doing Consolidation Week 2 run 2 on Wednesday is enough of a kick in the butt to keep me moving.

Fix yourself a goal or two and try and work towards them - hopefully a few short terms ones and a longer term one, so that you can achieve some relatively quickly.

Like for example, running 3 times a week for the month of June would be a short term one and finishing the C25K would be a longer term one.

Check in here and post your runs, bathe yourself in the forum so to speak and hold on to the motivation you have now, today until it becomes a habit

Global Running Day this year is Wednesday 5th June, so you will be running your second consolidation run of week 2 on that day.

Yes I will, so I have a good reason to get my lazy backside out of bed that day as I pledged 5k : )
