Week 8 Run 1 - Many lessons learned

Well as I feared, following my jubilant run on Thursday where I felt I could carry on for another 25 minutes, this run was an unmitigated disaster from the start. But rather than get deflated I’m going to learn.

I did my brisk walk on my way to the start of my local parkrun, paused the app as I usually do in order to start it when the run begins. Only this time it started from the very beginning again with the warm up walk. I was thrown instantly. I started running but was all over the place. I could not control my breathing at all (it’s always been my weakness during his program). I kept telling myself that it will be ok after 10 minutes but it wasn’t. I ran for as long as I could which was only about 5 minutes before I mentally gave up. Instead of quitting completely I decided I would walk run the thing and at least compete the parkrun. So I did and. Certainly no PB for me this week; instead I will take away the lessons of better preparation.

Will restart week 8 later this week. Onwards and upwards

Well done for getting out there! You’ll be surprised how many times people’s mobile phones have let them down on runs in one way or another. I think everyone gets it and yes it throws us off. Just think how much you will be ready for the next one xx

Be kind to yourself x some days it just doesn't go well, which is really bloody annoying as you'd had such a good run on Thursday but you did the PR so that's a win. A couple of days rest and I'm sure you'll smash it 💪🏃‍♂️
